The Power of the Little Things
As we gain experience and knowledge daily, it is the power of the “basics” or “the little things” that continue to capture or keep clients. Here are some quick reminders of what clients value:
- Arrive on time (if you know you’re going to be late, call or text)
- Remember the client’s name (repeat it often when speaking if that help you)
- Return phone calls or emails…and do so in a timely manner
- Do what you say and in the timeline of when you said
- Educate and teach your clients about industry issues or trends, especially about issues that could affect their business
- Make sure your communicating in English, not industry jargon or lots of acronyms
- When working on a client project, shared weekly updates (keep them in the know!)
- Help your client consider all the approaches, including the good, bad or ugly
- When the project is completed, do follow up and clean up if needed
Lastly, remember your clients will value the diminutive, professional things you do. Never underestimate the power of the little simple things.
